Parco Nazionale d'Abruzzo, Lazio e Molise is also known as the Abruzzo National Park, is a popular Italian national park which was founded in 1923. Most of the park is located in the Abruzzo region on the east side of Italy, it is not constrained by regional boundaries and also includes territory in Lazio and Molise. The national park headquarters are in Pescasseroli in the Province of L'Aquila.

Abruzzo is a region in Italy, with its western border lying less than 50 miles due east of Rome. The region borders other regions such as Marche to the north, Lazio to the west and south-west, Molise to the south-east and the Adriatic Sea to the east.

L'Aquila is capital city of the Abruzzo region and of the Province of L'Aquila it is the second largest city. The other provincial capitals are Pescara, which is Abruzzo's largest city and major port facility.

Abruzzo has 4 main ports:

  • Port of Pescara is the major port in the area and has become one of the key ports in the Adriatic Sea. Originally it was a small marina, but over the last few decades it has been through a major restoration plan in to which is now a modern port and marina with areas for ship building and fishing as well as the ferry.
  • Port of Ortona
  • Port of Vasto
  • Port of Giulianova

Abruzzo International Airport the only international airport in the region, and has seen over the years an increase in the number of passengers due to many cheap airlines and low-cost flights now operating there. The airport has over 200,000 passengers throughout the year and has a direct connection to the city of Pescara and the entire region with many Italian and European destinations. It is a popular and preferred venue for car hire Italy services.

L'Aquila-Preturo Airport is in the nearby village of Courts and is being renovated and modernized to accommodate a number of presidential G8 flights, soon the airport will be open to the public.

Railways are not as popular as the road services, there are railway lines and stations in Abruzzo.
